College Visits
College Visits, What They Are and How They Work
- On-Campus Visits
Throughout the Autumn and Winter, various colleges schedule “visits” to CHS. A representative from the college comes here to meet with Seniors and Our Guidance Counselors to discuss and highlight the opportunities that their college offers. These visits are designed to help a student learn more about what a school can do for them, both academically and financially. This is a great way for students to get a “snapshot” of a school in which they may be interested. All visits are posted in the Guidance Newsletter.
- Off-Campus Visits
Seniors and their parent are encouraged to go to a College to investigate the campus, visit with the counselors, and get a real view of a school they may be considering. These visits are designed to help students make a more informed decision about where they want to apply.
- How Visits Work
Seniors who wish to attend an On-Campus Visit (at CHS) must sign up on Naviance for this On-Campus College Visit. Students are responsible for all classroom work missed. Visits usually last between 25 and 30 minutes, but due to the bell schedule, students may miss the end of one class and the beginning of the next.
Seniors who wish to attend an Off-Campus visit (at the college) must complete the google form well in advance of their visit. These forms must be completed, listing the name of the college, the date of the visit, and whether or not they will be absent for the day, leave school early, or come in late on that day. The complete form must be submitted at least 24 hours before the visit. The day the student returns to school, they must provide confirmation of the visit in the form of a letterhead note from Admissions with a signature of the school’s representative.
Students who follow proper procedure for College Visits are allowed three (3) On-Campus Visits and four (4) Off-Campus visits with all absences excused.
